Ray Peat on Breast Cancer

Psychoactive Substances and Their Effects on Chronic Diseases

“During LSD research, it was observed that people with chronic headaches, asthma, or psoriasis sometimes completely recovered during treatment with frequent LSD doses. Another alkaloid derived from ergot, bromocriptine, is currently used to suppress lactation (for example, when caused by a prolactin-secreting pituitary adenoma that can develop after taking oral contraceptives) and is being experimentally used to treat Parkinson’s disease. Both LSD and bromocriptine shift the balance of two brain chemicals – DOPA and serotonin – in favor of DOPA dominance. One consequence of this is the inhibition of prolactin secretion. An excess of prolactin is involved in breast cancer and other forms of cell proliferation, probably including the rapid cell division in psoriasis.”
